AUTHOR:

Leslie Shortridge BSN, RN is a 1980 graduate of OHSU, School of Nursing, in Portland, Oregon. Over the years, she has worked in a wide variety of health care settings. She has been active in the Parish Nursing Movement for over 10 years: Nurses in churches promoting health (body, soul, and spirit) in their Faith Communities and beyond. Her first book, "Choosing A Healthy Lifestyle", has been previously used by many churches in the Pacific Northwest.

In 2006, Leslie's mother died of lung cancer, which was due to many years of smoking. This difficult tragedy was instrumental in creating a desire in her to see people set-free from the trap of nicotine addiction. The following year, as Health Services Coordinator for Lebanon Community School District, she was asked to work with high school youth who were struggling with tobacco addiction. As a result of all these experiences, the vision for this manual/program was born.

She and her husband, Terry Shortridge, M.D, have three grown children and reside in Sweet Home, Oregon.
